Title: The origins of the new concept given to the traditional Ikebana styles: Focusing on the birth of Shoka " Shimputai" and Rikka " Shimputai" which do not have set styles

Abstract : 

This presentation explores the historical and environmental necessity of the emergence of new concepts (styles) in modern Ikebana culture in Japan, especially from the postwar period to the present day, and examines the traditional composition and aesthetics that should be inherited in the new concepts. 

In particular, the modern case of "Ikenobo", Japan's oldest and biggest Ikebana school and the organization that has carried on the traditional part of Ikebana, will be the subject of this study. 

In the "Shoka" and "Rikka" styles, the new concepts of " Shoka Shimputai" and "Rikka Shimputai" announced in 1977 and 1999, respectively, will be examined from the following three perspectives. 

(1) Modern historical trends in Ikenobo and the whole Ikebana field before and after the announcement of the new style. 

(Reference will also be made to the commonalities with the study of “Gaseitai(Shoka)” that occurred from the Taisho era) 

(2) Internal and external factors that led to this trend. 

(3) Historical trends in composition and aesthetics (Mizugiwa, ying-yang). 

At a time when the new style is in its infancy and should be further developed as the mainstay of future Ikebana traditions, I will continue an analysis that will serve as a catalyst for future research development and explore what is essential and what should be preserved in the transmission of Ikebana, using the traditional schools as a model. 

I believe that this research will provide a microcosm of the historically transformation process in the history of modern Ikebana, and will also provide a methodology for connecting the culture of Ikebana to the future despite its transformation, as well as a new awareness for its lecturers who will be the main inheritors of Ikebana culture.

－型を持たない生花「新風体」・立花「新風体」誕生を中心に－

本発表は、日本の特に戦後から現代までの近代華道文化において、これ迄の伝統的花型に対する新しい概念(花型)が誕生していく動向について、その歴史的・環境的必然性を探り、更に新しい花型の中に継承されるべき伝統的構成や美感についても検証するものである。

特に、日本最古の華道流派で華道の伝統的部分を継承してきた団体「池坊」の近代のケースを主題とする。

型を持つ「生花」「立花」において、1977年と1999年に発表された新しい概念「生花新風体」と「立花新風体」を題材とし、主に以下三つの視点より考察を行う。

➀新風体発表前後における池坊や華道界全体の近代史的な動向

（大正時代に起こった雅整体研究（生花）との共通性にも言及）

②その動向が起こった内的および外的要因

③構成や美感における歴史的回帰的部分の検証(水際、陰陽)

今後の華道伝承の主役となる花型として更に発展するべき新風体の黎明期ともいえる今、今後の研究発展のきっかけとなる分析を行い、伝統的流派をモデルに、華道の継承において何が本質で何を残すべきなのかを探る。

この研究で、近代華道史における歴史的に見ても大きな変容過程の一つの縮図を示し、また華道文化が変容しながらも未来へ繋がるための方法論、そして指導者の新たな自覚への一助にもなると考える。
